The 2018 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Prologo is coy in the glass, requiring a bit of coaxing to show its nuanced mix of dusty rose, strawberries and dried orange. This impresses with its elegance, silky and textural, yet lifted in feel with crunchy red berry fruits and pretty violet and lavender tones that arch across the palate.

The 2018 finishes lightly structured, leaving a coating of edgy tannins, as residual acids maintain a marvelous freshness. This is, without a doubt, one of the true successes of the vintage.
